Med-Life Institute Graduates

Notice to graduates of MED-LIFE INSTITUTE nursing education program:

The minimum qualifications for licensure as an registered nurse (RN) in Maryland are set forth in the Nurse Practice Act, Annotated Code of Maryland, Health Occupations Article (“Health Occ.”), specifically Health Occ. § 8-302(b), and in the Code of Maryland Regulations (“COMAR”), specifically COMAR One such minimum qualification is that an applicant must have completed satisfactorily and met all requirements for a diploma from either (1) an RN program approved by the Board or (2) an RN program in another state, territory, or country determined by the Board to be substantially equivalent to the RN education program approved in Maryland at the time of the applicant’s graduation. See Health Occ. § 8-302(b); COMAR

Please be advised that on October 23, 2019, the Maryland Board of Nursing reviewed documentation submitted by Med-Life Institute, an RN education program located in Florida, and determined that Med-Life Institute is NOT substantially equivalent to the RN education program approved in Maryland. As a result, graduates of Med-Life Institute’s RN education program DO NOT meet minimum qualifications for full RN licensure in Maryland at this time.

You are encouraged to consider the Board’s finding that Med-Life Institute’s RN education program is not substantially equivalent before applying for either temporary or full RN licensure in Maryland. Please be advised that if you choose to submit an application for temporary or full RN licensure and pay the associated application fee, despite this notice, all fees collected by the Board are non-refundable.

Please further be advised that if Med-Life Institute modifies its RN education program in the future and, based on those modifications, the Board determines that Med-Life Institute’s program is substantially equivalent to an RN education program approved in Maryland, the Board will update this notice at that time.
