This guide was developed to provide assistance to those persons interested in nursing as a career. It describes each of the nursing programs in Maryland that prepares graduates to take the national licensing examinations for either licensed practical nursing (LPN) or registered nursing (RN). The Maryland Board of Nursing (MBN) has approved each of the programs included in this guide. This approval provides assurance to the public, and potential students, that these programs meet or exceed established standards and criteria. In addition, students and graduates of Maryland approved programs are able to participate in federal programs, e.g. Financial Aid for Students, the Veterans Administration, and the Military Nursing Services. This guide has been available with web
updates at mbon.maryland.gov since the beginning of the summer of 2001.
