Capscare Academy for Health Care Education Graduates

Notice to graduates of Capscare Academy for Health Care Education Graduates nursing education program:

The minimum qualifications for licensure as an registered nurse (RN) in Maryland are set forth in the Nurse Practice Act, Annotated Code of Maryland, Health Occupations Article (“Health Occ.”), specifically Health Occ. § 8-302(b), and in the Code of Maryland Regulations (“COMAR”), specifically COMAR 10.27.01.05A. One such minimum qualification is that an applicant must have completed satisfactorily and met all requirements for a diploma from either (1) an RN program approved by the Board or (2) an RN program in another state, territory, or country determined by the Board to be substantially equivalent to the RN education program approved in Maryland at the time of the applicant’s graduation. See Health Occ. § 8-302(b); COMAR 10.27.01.05A.

Please be advised that on April 20, 2020, the Maryland Board of Nursing reviewed documentation submitted by Capscare Academy for Health Care Education, an RN education program located in Florida, and determined that Capscare Academy for Health Care Education is NOT substantially equivalent to the RN education program approved in Maryland.  As a result, graduates of Capscare Academy for Health Care Education’s RN education program DO NOT meet minimum qualifications for full RN licensure in Maryland at this time.

You are encouraged to consider the Board’s finding that Capscare Academy for Health Care Education Graduates RN education program is not substantially equivalent before applying for either temporary or full RN licensure in Maryland. Please be advised that if you choose to submit an application for temporary or full RN licensure and pay the associated application fee, despite this notice, all fees collected by the Board are non-refundable.​

Please further be advised that if Capscare Academy for Health Care Education modifies its RN education program in the future and, based on those modifications, the Board determines that Capscare Academy for Health Care Education’s program is substantially equivalent to an RN education program approved in Maryland, the Board will update this notice at that time.
